Sound Healing

I offer sound healing sessions for up to 6 people.  These can be group sessions that I organise or if you and up to 5 friends would like to book your own sessions, please get in touch.  If you prefer a 1 to 1 sound session, this option can be found on my booking system as Relaxation With Sound.

What is sound healing?

Sound healing or a "sound bath" is a practice that uses specific frequencies produced by playing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls or drums.  The vibrations from the sound resonate throughout your body and mind promoting relaxation, healing, mental clarity and emotional balance.  Certain frequencies can evoke emotional responses, trigger memories and induce states of relaxation.

The way we experience sound is unique to each of us.  It resonates with us based on our life experiences, meaning that the same sound can evoke different emotions and sensations for different listeners.

Sound is a rich and complex phenomenon that connects us to ourselves, to each other and to the universe around us. Embrace it, and let it guide you on your journey!

What to expect from a sound healing session with me?

When you arrive, I will ask you to set an intention for the session - what you hope to gain from the session.  This can be anything you like. For example: relaxation, stress relief, emotional release, focus, pain management, peace, calmness, a specific healing goal or anything else specific to you.

You will lie down.  I will begin with a few words about your intention for the session while beating a shamanic drum.  I will then play a combination of gongs, singing bowls and rattles.  There will also be short periods of silence to allow your body to process the vibrations.

The vibrations produced by the instruments open the doorway to the subconscious mind, which is where the true power of manifestation resides. When you send an intention through sound, you plant a seed in your subconscious. Like a seed that grows in the soil, you don’t need to constantly check on it - just trust that the intention is working beneath the surface. Over time, it will sprout, grow, and manifest in your life.

What to bring, what to wear

You should wear comfortable clothes that will keep you warm.  You should bring a yoga mat to lie on and optionally, bring a pillow, eye-mask and blanket to keep you warm.  Anything to make you comfortable.

Contraindications – Is Sound Healing Suitable for Me?

If you have any of the following conditions, you should seek medical advice before attending a sound therapy session:

  • Ear infections

  • Epilepsy – if your seizures are triggered by sound

  • Pacemakers

  • Meniere's disease

  • Tinnitus

Coughs and Colds

If you have a cough or cold, you should refrain from attending the sound bath to avoid potentially spreading germs and causing distractions for others.

Hearing Aids

If you have hearing aids, it is generally recommended that you remove them before participating in a sound therapy session, as certain frequencies can cause buzzing or whistling sounds.

Bone Fractures

It is recommended waiting at least six weeks after a bone fracture has occurred before attending a gong bath. The vibrations caused by the gongs may be too intense during this time.

Sound Healing Training

Over a period of 5 months, I trained in the art of sound healing with Neil Christey at The Holistic College.   The extensive training involved mastering the many techniques needed to become a sound healer using a variety of instruments including a range of different size gongs, singing bowls, drums, rattles and chimes as well as the voice.

To become fully qualified, I needed to write a 2000-word assignment, present findings from 21 case studies and, with the other 5 students, create a group performance and sound healing session to be acted out for Neil and an audience of family and friends.

Feedback from the case studies included:

“The most relaxing treatment I’ve ever had”

“I was tingling from my head to my toes and I felt an almost out of body experience”

"After the session I overwhelmingly felt good, very relaxed, similar to having a massage or Reiki"

"When the gong was being played, I felt the vibrations through my body - particularly focusing on my knees and hips which are my weak spots"

"It has now been a week since I had my first gong bath and in that time I have felt more focused."

"I initially entered the Soundbath with a slight headache and a sense of heaviness in my chest, but by the end, both had completely lifted."

"I have had another motivated and productive week following my sound bath last Friday.  I have slept well, have felt more energised and have been able to focus better when working."

"In the days following my first sound bath experience, I’ve continued to notice subtle yet meaningful shifts. The improvement in my energy and mood has been sustained, and some of the physical symptoms I was managing have continued to ease"

"Thank you for the soundbath, it was lovely and definitely helped lift me and quiet the negative chatter."
