Every year on the 8th March, millions of people around the world celebrate International Women's Day (IWD).  In 2026, the theme is Give To Gain.

The idea of this year's theme is to encourage a mindset of generosity and collaboration. It emphasizes the power of reciprocation and support. When we give generously, opportunities and support for women increases. When women thrive we all rise.

International Women's Day 2026 #IWD2026 #GiveToGain

I give my support and encouragement to other women-owned small businesses or to those women looking to start their business. Starting from nothing, Body & Sole Therapy has become a successful business with over 160 5* reviews on Google. A lot of my new clients are finding my business thanks to the generosity of others who have been kind enough to give their time to leave these wonderful reviews. See for yourself. I am proof that women can succeed.

Giving doesn't have to cost you money, there are lots of ways to give, for example:

• give celebration

• give visibility

• give respect

• give opportunities

• give momentum

We can all give our local businesswomen these to help them thrive.

Here are a few of my favourite women owned businesses

Julie at Sparkle Bespoke Skin & Beauty - I'd be lost without her

Michelle at Michelle Coxhead Holistic Therapies - my treatment swap buddy

Angela at The Fitness Project - the place I go to keep fit and keep my mind in the right place

Gillian at Pilates North East - keeping my body flexible

Anna and Jane at Equilibrio Retreats - the BEST retreats I've ever been on

The list could go on...

Who is your favourite woman in business? Can you give her visibility? Celebrate her achievements?
